You might recognize a few of these, they’ve been champions in different categories like the priciest or the speediest. But there are also some newcomers you’ll want to keep an eye on.
Once again, the Devel Sixteen steals the spotlight, claiming the top spot as this year’s fastest car. But here’s the catch: it’s still in the works. They’re aiming for a mind-boggling top speed of 347 mph.
The SSC Tuatara had a big shift this year, dropping from second place to sixth. Their claimed top speed of 331mph turned out to be lower at 295 mph.
The Rimac Nevera, the first all-electric car to make our list last year, symbolizes the shift in the automotive landscape. If you’re curious about other luxury electric options, check out our separate ranking for more choices in that category.

On Valentine’s Day in 2014, John Hennessey from Hennessey Performance made peace with Bugatti after their long-standing feud. And guess what? His Venom GT snagged the title for the Fastest Car, zooming past everyone else on NASA’s Kennedy Space Center runway.
It took a whopping two years to craft and perfect this beauty. They only made 29 of them, and each one goes for about 1.2 million dollar. That’s some serious investment for a serious machine.
This supercar is a stunner, no doubt about it. Its curves and smooth body make it look like a sleek black panther ready to pounce. And with its lightweight carbon-fiber frame, it’s as agile as it is stylish.
And boy, does it leap! The Venom GT smashed records with a mind-blowing top speed of 270mph or 434kph. In its World Record tests, it went from 0 to 100kph or 0 to 60mph in just 3.05 seconds.

The Koenigsegg Agera RS was intended to be seen and to be heard, a supercar that took the test of beating world records into its hands with a smooth plan to match. A limit-pushing monster of a vehicle that figures out how to mark every one of the containers, it’s areas of strength for one of the world’s most impressive cars.
The Agera RS was carefully assembled just 25 times,10 of which were pre-sold before the principal appeared. The organization announced that this was all there was to its quickest-selling model, and it remains one of the most extraordinary out there.
Its most charming component? The 5.0-liter twin-super V8 creates 1176 HP and 940 lb-ft of force in standard structure. Also, it’s made primarily in-house, something moderately unfathomable in the business.

Unlike some supercars that stick to conventional strategies and designs, the C Zinger 21c worked for the 21st century. A vehicle driving itself far into the future inside and out, its lap-record-breaking execution is only one of the numerous things it boasts of.
Carbon fiber construction, a custom hybrid powertrain, outrageous downforce, and more guarantee this vehicle has an intimate knowledge of its stuff both. This is a vehicle turned on both electricity and gas, enhancing its powers with an 800-volt electrical system, like those spotted on late Formula 1 vehicles.
Certainly, it won’t exactly hit those greatest speeds on electricity alone, however, powerful at a moderate distance without utilizing gas is sufficiently strong.

Shelby SuperCars is no drifter to speed. In 2007, the SSC Extreme Air held the title of the world’s world’s fastest production vehicle. Around then, hitting 300 mph seemed like just dream. Today, SSC needs to change that fantasy into the real world.
The Tuatara coordinates a body including a madly low 0.279 coefficient of drag with a twin-turbocharged 1,750 HP V-8, on a stage estimated at $1.9 million. Even though there was a brief time where the world was persuaded to think the SSC Tuatara hit a shocking 331 mph, that claim turned out to be false.
However, try not to surrender trust right now. SSC has verified that the Tuatara figured out how to hit 295.0 mph (474.8 kph) in 2022. The organization acquired Racelogic to affirm the speed independently. Also, they don’t feel that was near the vehicle’s true top speed.
Perhaps the SSC Tuatara will hit 331 mph all things considered. Only time will tell.

Naturally, Bugatti has a long history of success in the luxury hypercar industry. As a consequence of the Chiron’s highly modified quad-turbocharged W16 engine adding more power to its already legendary speed, Bugatti is now ranked not just number one, but number three in the world’s fastest cars.
Even though it’s no longer the fastest car ever made (we’ll discuss that coveted title in a moment), Bugatti’s Chiron Super Sport 300+ has achieved a level of fame that will go down in history books and inspire amazement for years to come: It was the first vehicle to surpass the previously unheard-of 300 mph (483 kph) threshold.
It still embodies the ideal combination of aerodynamics, form and function, and beauty. With a 2.4-second acceleration from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour (0 to 60 miles per hour), this Bugatti is undoubtedly fast and stylish.

Following the Chiron Super Sport’s victory, Bugatti returned to the drawing board. The avant-garde, legendary automaker had to surpass itself, but how could it when the Super Sport 300+ was almost flawless already?
The answer? Easy.
They are introducing the 8.0L W-16 motor. 1825 hp. 1364 lb-ft of torque is astounding.
This automobile is obviously going places.
The lightweight hypercar Bugatti Bolide exemplifies the full breadth of Bugatti’s offering in terms of style, performance, and innovation. The Bolide will genuinely demonstrate to the world the capabilities of the W-16 motor by using the same custom engine from the renowned Chiron series, but with extra turbos to amp up the effect.
It’s also lightweight, futuristic (powder blue paint is sparsely applied to its exposed carbon-fiber form), and small: the Bolide stands 39.2 inches tall. Its claimed top speed is 310 mph (498 kph), and it can go from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 kph) in 2.17 seconds.

The F5 is the next record-breaking car in John Hennessey’s Venom range. The name refers to the fastest sort of tornado, a natural force that the Hennessey embodies with its extreme strength and amazing speed.
The Venom F5’s engine is American-made and twin-turbocharged; the result? Almost 2,000 hp. This provides the Venom F5 just what it needs to reach a top speed of 484 km/h (301 mph). Its acceleration is likewise amazing, with a time of less than two seconds to get from 0-100kph (0-60mph).
The F5 was designed to help Hennessey break a world record previously set by the GT, and it was more stylish, exclusive, expensive, and faster. Only 24 were produced. The sticker price was $1.6 million. What about the brilliant yellow carbon-fiber shell? Instantly iconic.

So far, it appears that the contest to decide the fastest car of the year has been primarily between two automakers: Bugatti and Hennessey. This makes sense. They’re both impeccably pedigreed houses that produce great automobiles full of sheer power.
But! That doesn’t mean they have the race.
Introducing the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, a hypercar that accelerates by nearly thirty miles per hour. For a long time, if anyone wondered what the fastest car in the world was, it was undoubtedly this one.
Swedish automaker Koenigsegg introduced this car to achieve a new world record. As a result, they modified the engine from their other successful supercar, the Agera RS; invested in more precise handling; and made this car less weight and more aerodynamic for peak performance.
However, this car is about more than simply speed. There’s also enjoyment built in, with features like climate control, infotainment, and head/leg room that are typically overlooked when it comes to the world’s fastest vehicles.
The Jesko Absolut has a top speed of 330mph (or 531kph); the car’s maker has not provided acceleration data, but with that kind of top speed, it’s bound to be amazing.

The Devel Sixteen, which debuted years ago, boasts statistics that have had the automobile world talking, perplexed, as we wait for production: It features an astonishing 5,007 hp, an 81mm Quad Turbo 12.3L V16 engine, and a general ‘inquiry for pricing’, interesting aura that always surrounds it. This car is probably one to keep an eye out for next year since all we know about it suggests that it will be the car to beat if its figures are true.
Devel is currently working on a huge utility vehicle. If you need something right now, check out our roundup of the top luxury SUVs of the year.

Our list of the fastest cars in the world focuses solely on street-legal vehicles. Supercars that you can purchase and drive on the road. But, to be complete, we must mention two additional highly exceptional vehicles: the Thrust SSC and the Bloodhound LSR.
The Thrust supersonic car is a British jet automobile designed by Richard Noble, Glynne Bowsher, Ron Ayers, and Jeremy Bliss expressly to break the world speed record. It presently holds the world land speed record, with a top speed of 763 mph (1,228 km/h) set on October 15, 1997. In addition, it is the first land vehicle to officially break the sound barrier.
The Thrust SSC weighs over ten tons and is powered by two Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan engines.
Twenty years after its predecessor, the Bloodhound Land Speed Record (LSR) revealed its desire to break the world land speed record at 1,000 mph / 1,609 km/h. The vehicle has been under development since 2008 and is propelled by a combination of a jet engine and a rocket engine.
While still in construction, the automobile reached a high speed of 628 mph (1,011 km/h) on November 16, 2019, in South Africa. The British engineering team behind the project intends to shatter the world speed record.
